
Dated from around 1000 BC, Beijing developed as a frontier trading town for the Mongols, Koreans and tribes from Shandong and central China. It had grown to be the capital of the Yan Kingdom in the Warring States Period. During the Liao Dynasty Beijing was referred to as Yanjing ( capital of Yan ) which is still the name of Beijing's most popular beer.
Day 1 | Beijing Your local guide will pick you up at the airport upon your arrival in Beijing and take you to your hotel. |
Day 2 | Beijing (B/L) Visit Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square. You’ll tour the grounds and discover the halls and monuments. From there, you will walk to the Forbidden City, (also is the Palace Museum), the Chinese imperial palace for 500 years. And then, you will be transferred to the Hutong area to tour by Rickshaw. The Hutongs are a located behind the Forbidden City in central Beijing containing many narrow streets and alleys with traditional courtyard homes. |
Day 3 | Beijing (B/L) Visit the Temple of Heaven early in the morning, as it is the most peaceful time of the day and the best way to enjoy your visit. You might be surprised by the number of people there performing their morning exercises, from an elder person practicing Taiji to the group learning the ancient martial art of sword-fighting. Day 4 | Beijing – Xian (B/L) In the morning, visit the Summer Palace, surrounded by one of Beijing’s finest and best-preserved parks. You’ll explore the grounds, the temples and the world’s longest art gallery. Then transfer to Beijing airport where you fly to Xian. On arrival you will be met by your guide and go to your hotel. |
Day 5 | Xian (B/L) Visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum in the morning, where no two soldiers are alike, from the kneeling archer, to the standing archer, a cavalryman and a horse, a mid-ranking officer and a general. After that, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China, worth seeing for its mixed architecture, both traditional Chinese and Muslim styles. Then go to Xi’an Imperial Fine Arts center. |
Day 6 | Xian – Shanghai (B/L) In the morning, visit the Shanxi History Museum. Then visit the Xian City Wall and take a bicycle ride along the Wall. Free time until transfer to the airport where you fly to Shanghai. |
Day 7 | Shanghai (B/L) Tour the Yuyuan Garden, a classical, peaceful and comfortable garden in the heart of bustling Shanghai. Then visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, an amazing display of the progress and future of Shanghai. You’ll have lunch and visit to see a silk workshop. After that, you will have a visit to another era, the Bund, which still retains its colonial charm. |
Day 8 | Shanghai (B) Transfer to the airport for your departure. |
